Well located in the centre of Funchal, Barceló Funchal Oldtown provides air-conditioned rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi and a fitness centre. This might’ve been my favourite accommodation out of our whole trip (we stayed in 5 different accommodations including this one, as we were travelling all around Portugal). This is a fairly new hotel but it is very high end, has wonderful staff, and location is superior. One of our highlights was the rooftop bar/pool you see in the photos. View was absolutely stunning. It’s steps away from the pier/marina, main city centre and tons of restaurants around. We plan to return to Madeira and spend more days there and we’ll be definitely staying here again. Hope this place succeeds and will still be here when we come back in a few years! Also, the prices were such a steal for high end this hotel is - I’m assuming it’s because it’s a new hotel.

Three House Hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, a garden and terrace in Funchal. Three House - three words. They. Get. It. From the very warm welcome when we arrived, the lovely hotel tour we were taken on, to the beautifully furnished rooms. Everything felt just right. Like coming home. And not to forget mentioning the rooftop with 360° degree view of marvelous Madeira. Every single just detail seemed to be thoroughly considered when working out the concept of the hotel when it opened in 2019. Light scent of apple in the hallways, a fully equipped kitchen, a Harman Kardon bluetooth speaker and a TV that allowed you to stream your content via Apple AirPlay our Chromecast. What could mid-twenty travelers want more?! Not to forget the rooftop pool, DJ sets on the weekend and drinks that knock your socks off. Prior our arrival the Three House reached out via WhatsApp asking when we would arrive and whether transportation from the airport is needed. Like, did you ever communicate with a hotel through WhatsApp? Whenever we had a question or just wanted to know where the locals eat - we just sent a text and got the greatest recommendations that made our stay in Madeira even more memorable. Every hotel should just do that. It just feels so natural. If you visit Madeira and plan to stay in Funchal, this is the perfect place. It’s location in the city center with free parking let‘s you get to all attractions and Funchal’s old town in no time. Enjoy the traditional meat skewers and drink as much Poncha as you can (take it with ice though). If you fancy something more experimental, try the hotel restaurant with a sundowner drink on the rooftop after. The Three House just gets it how a hotel experience in the twenty first century should be. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing place. We took a room with a balcony facing the seaview and it was 100% worth its' price. It is the best place I've ever been to. People working in the hotel are very helpful and nice. We also received a lot of nice gifts: a bottle of wine, sweets and snacks in our room - all included. The breakfast is quite nice and there are plenty of sweet treats in it. We loved every bit of this place and definitely plan to come back

Porto Moniz is a spectacular part of the world. The biggest attraction is the natural simming pool forming the island stopped the water quiet behind the stones. Becoming a great place to swim: the best of all Madeira. The north coast of the island is spectacular and beautiful, and is very little crowded. Only simming pool in the middle of the day. Porto Moniz és un racó de món espectacular. La major atracció són les picines naturals que la formació de la illa va deixar l'aigua arressarada per línies de roca. Esdevenint un lloc ideal per banyar-se: el millor de tot Madeira. Tota la costa nord de la illa és espectacular i preciosa, i a mes, està molt poc massificada. Només les picines en les hores centrals del dia.

Nice place to spend few days close to the sea.
Nice place to spend few days close to the sea. Out of season was very nice and not so crowded of tourist. It is well connected with some roads, and nice spots as Porto Moniz are not more than 15-20 minutes by car. The town has very nice mix between mountain and see, modern and traditional. If you visit Madeira, you should stop for at least one day here.

La paraula que millor defineix Funchal i Madeira es que es un jardí, molt cuidat, sense grafitis, la gent molt amable, viuen del turisme, pero, no et sens "guiri", una gastronomia que sense ser molt extensa es molt cuidada, el peix molt be, pero, la carn, espectacular!!! Un molt bon lloc per passar unes vacances!!!

Tot!! El personal era súper amable i atent. Les habitacions estaven molt netes i ben equipades. Les instal·lacions estan molt ben cuidades, sobretot els jardins i les piscines. El menjar dels restaurants és boníssim (l’esmorzar també). És molt tranquil, hem estat molt a gust i ens hem relaxat moltíssim. Ho recomano fortament per qualsevol persona que visiti Madeira. És el millor hotel de l’illa.

The rooms are above average size, smelled and looked fresh and clean. Balcony was a real plus with great views. Pool area was nice. Overall good value for money. Again I must compliment the staff
